Step 2: Background and dark features

Step 3: First coat of background paint. Later a second coat of the maroon red paint was added.

Step 4: Paint the feathers on a yellowish imprimatura (=toned ground).

Step 5: Finish painting the feathers whilst adding shadows.

Step 7: Varnish to Finish.
